HWANGE Colliery Company Limited says it may build a gas plant if it gets approval from the Government.

The coal-mining giant has already identified a partner in the envisaged project to cost about US$10 million, managing director Mr Fred Moyo said recently

"We have the area where we want to put the project and we are waiting for Government approvals," said Mr Moyo.

"If all goes well, we will build a commercial plant that will produce methane gas.

"What we have discussed so far (with the investor) has indicated that the initial cost for the project would be around US$10 million."
