A proposed hydroelectric project at the Willow Island locks and dams got a $20 million boost.
American Municipal Power, which is planning a 24 MW facility on the Ohio River at Willow Island, was one of 805 recipients of $2.2 billion in Clean Renewable Energy Bonds. The bonds were approved in the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The bonds offer government agencies, public utilities and cooperative electric companies lower-cost financing for the development of clean-energy projects. Buyers of the bonds will receive federal tax credits equal to 70 percent of the ...
