A hotel based on the tiny building blocks that form the foundation of a toy empire is in Carlsbad's future, after the City Council unanimously approved a proposed Legoland Hotel on Tuesday.

The 137,000-square-foot hotel, which will feature rooms, grounds and amenities based on Legos, will be built in the parking lot in front of Legoland California's main entrance. Councilman Keith Blackburn expressed the council's only concern: the inclusion of a bar and nightclub in the plans.
