French power grid RTE said on Friday its import needs in electricity would be higher this winter as domestic production capacity is expected to be much lower than last year.
Imports could reach 4,000 megawatts (MW) for several weeks between November and January, assuming temperatures are close to seasonal norms, RTE, which is owned by energy group EDF (EDF.PA), said in a statement on supply and demand for the 2009/10 winter period.
