The Bonnet Shores Fire District is seeking a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to dredge 1,000 cubic yards of material in front of the district s boat ramp on Col. John Gardner Road.
According to a release by the Army Corps, the area has shoaled in, leaving the boat ramp unusable at low tide. The ramp, used by the district for emergency operations and by boaters, is the only boat ramp in the area.
The dredged fairway will clear a navigable path with depths of 4 feet below the surface at mean low water, the Army Corps said. The dredged material will be used to replenish the beach above the mean high water mark on an ...
