Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. Corp. is in the running to provide electric vehicles to the U.S. Postal Service, but Smith and Ford Motor Co. have agreed to end their collaborative effort to deliver a battery-electric Ford Transit Connect van for the United States and Canadian markets in 2010.
Ford (NYSE: F) has named Azure Dynamics Corp. of Oak Park, Mich., to replace Kansas City-based Smith Electric Vehicles U.S. as the drivetrain supplier for the electric Transit Connect.
