Cuyahoga County will serve as the middleman for up to $60 million in loans to build dorms and a parking garage at Cleveland State University.
County commissioners Thursday voted to tentatively approve bonds for the Euclid Avenue Housing Corp., a nonprofit organization created by CSU for development projects. Commissioners vote on final approval in December.
"This will create more energy, vitality downtown," Commissioner Peter Lawson Jones said."
The county won't have to repay the bonds, which will pay for five new buildings along East 24th Street, south of Euclid Avenue, said county development Director Paul Oyaski.
