For Beezie and John Madden, a full week in Syracuse is a rare occurrence.
The two-time Olympic equestrian gold medalist and her husband, who own a horse farm in Nelson just outside of Cazenovia, rarely spend more than a few days in Upstate New York because of their demanding schedules with her national and international competition.
Yet the Syracuse Sporthorse Invitational, which the Maddens created in 2003, is a good excuse for the couple to take a break from the airports.
