ONE third of small and medium businesses are still recruiting despite the recession, according to Jobcentre Plus.
Of the 400,000 companies that work with Jobcentre Plus, about 380,000 are now smaller businesses. And according to Ruth Owen, chief operating officer and deputy chief executive of Jobcentre Plus, her organisation is receiving details of 10,000 vacancies a day.
Research by Santander Corporate Banking due out this week shows 17 per cent of smaller firms plan to take on more staff before Christmas.
