A FEW minutes after the 3pm deadline for Our Lady's appearance, a man with close-cut greying hair who had been praying fervently in front of the altar for almost two hours started to smile broadly and nod his head vigorously.
'He has news for us,' said one of the few cynical souls present sardonically, as all eyes - and cameras - turned on Joe Coleman, self-styled 'visionary of Our Lady and spiritual healer'.
A ripple of expectation spread through the massive basilica in Knock, Co. Mayo, but it took another 10 minutes before the stampede took place.
