Sea Change Investment Fund, an environmentally-conscious San Francisco-based private equity fund, backed the merger of Helen's Kitchen and The Organic Bistro, marking another in a series of recent plays in which healthy foods have gone private.
Stephen Moore, founder of Helen's Foods, and Callaway Consumer Products, the PE firm running Organic Bistro, revealed last month the two companies would merge and that Moore would assume a leadership role with the new organization. Both companies produce frozen, ready-to-prepare foods containing organic products.
