Ofcom - the UK media and communications regulator - has announced plans for the enforcement of a new law which implements regulations concerning TV-type content online. The European Union's Audio Visual Media Services Directive is due to be brought into UK law by the end of this year. The new law aims to regulate TV-like services provided online. The Directive had originally been very controversial before it was passed, until it was eventually amended to be clear that it did not intend to cover short user-generated content.
