WINNIPEG, MB, Nov 02, 2009 (Resource News International via COMTEX) -- The Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX)closed lower on Monday after a day of choppy trade caused by mixed economic signals, said market watchers.

The TSX composite index decreased by 32.40 points or 0.30% to close at 10,878.35 on Monday. Trading volume totaled 425.6 million shares, down from 511.9 million on Friday. Declines beat advances 835 to 684.

Five of the TSX's ten sectoral indexes ended lower on Monday while five finished higher.
