The scuttlebutt around town was that GlobalFoundries Chairman Hector Ruiz was expected to attend the Center for Economic Growth's annual meeting Thursday at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
After all, CEG officials unveiled a new work force development initiative that was the brainchild of GlobalFoundries, the Sunnyvale, Calif., company building a $4.2 billion computer chip factory in Saratoga County called Fab 2.
