Even before the Investment Management Association (IMA) published its retail fund sales statistics for September, it was predicting that 2009 would set a new record.
Based on early data, the trade body was confident that by September, net sales of retail funds would surpass the total achieved in 2000, the previous best year recorded. The early data proved correct: last week the IMA revealed that total net sales reached #18.7 billion over the first nine months of 2009.
