The creatures of the night - the warty witches, the Michael Jacksons, the busty barmaids, the tighly wrapped mummies - came out in hordes.
Police officers stalked the crowds on foot. An almost full moon gleamed on the crisp October night. Revelers danced in front of a stage of wailing bluegrass fiddlers.
Yes, the ghouls were out on State Street, but as of press time, they were relatively well-behaved.
