High-yield bond funds still offer good value, despite euro and US high-yield spreads tightening by more than 1,000 basis points, according to the latest annual review of the sector by Standard & Poor's Fund Services.
After falling 26.9 per cent in 2008, the Barclays Capital Global High-Yield index has jumped 38.93 per cent in dollar terms in the first seven months of 2009.
Over 12 months to July 31, the index has returned 3.7 per cent.
