SEVERAL accidents caused traffic chaos up and down the N1 yesterday as sections of freeway were closed because of a feared radioactive spill in Bellville and an oil spill in Paarden Eiland.
Three people were injured in the accidents and were taken to hospital.
Shortly before midday yesterday, the driver of a bakkie heading from the city lost control and his vehicle rolled and landed on its side on the centre island near Old Oak Road, Bellville. The driver and a passenger were taken to a nearby clinic with moderate injuries, ER24 spokesman Tristan Wadeley said.
