Orexigen Therapeutics Inc. reported positive top-line data from a Phase IIb study of Empatic, the company's second program aimed at the sizeable - and still growing - obesity market.
While the full data set will be presented at the North American Association for the Study of Obesity meeting in New Orleans this fall, the company reported that Empatic, a drug that combines the sustained formulations of approved epilepsy drug zonisamide plus the antidepressant buproprion, demonstrated statistically significant weight loss vs. placebo.
