SCIENTISTS backed the sacking of David Nutt last night as it emerged the future of the Government's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs is under review.
Fellow experts condemned the former ACMD chairman as 'politically naive' and said he should have kept his controversial views on cannabis and ecstasy to himself.
Dr Clare Gerada, a south London GP and former member of the council, said: 'He gave his views to the ACMD and that is where he should have left it. I have always been worried about how we are portraying cannabis as some sort of safe, harmless and benign substance and it isn't.'
