o Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc., of Cheshire, Conn., said preliminary six-month interim results from Shepherd, its second Phase III trial testing Soliris (eculizumab) in paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria patients, showed the therapy is safe and well tolerated. All primary and secondary efficacy endpoints were achieved with statistical significance. The trial enrolled 97 patients at 33 sites in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia.
