o Acuity Pharmaceuticals Inc., of Philadelphia, in-licensed exclusive worldwide development and commercialization rights from Pathogenics Inc., of Hingham, Mass., to N-chlorotaurine (NCT), a small-molecule agent for ophthalmic infections and other conditions. Acuity's lead compound, Cand5, is in clinical trials for wet age-related macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema. The first indication that Acuity will pursue for NCT is conjunctivitis. Pathogenics will receive up-front and license fees as part of the agreement, as well as development milestones and royalties.
