Russian stocks opened lower on Monday amid declines on stock exchanges abroad and on news CIT Group of the U.S. had filed for bankruptcy.

The MICEX index was down 0.54% to 1,230.52 points as of 10:31 a.m., with the majority of the blue chips posting declines of up to 1%. The RTS index was unchanged at 1,348.54 points.
