Atrix Laboratories Inc., of Fort Collins, Colo., submitted an investigational new drug application to the FDA for a bone growth product that uses Atrix's Atrigel drug delivery technology. Pfizer Inc., of New York, submitted the IND and will conduct all clinical trials of the Atrigel formulation. That will be the first product developed under a research and worldwide licensing agreement with Pfizer signed in August 2000. Pfizer evaluates certain compounds in its development pipeline using Atrix's technology. Pfizer also made a $5 million equity payment in Atrix as part of the deal.
