o Abbott Laboratories, of Abbott Park, Ill., presented data from Phase III and other ongoing trials of Humira (adalimumab) at the European League Against Rheumatism meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, showing that the product is effective in patients with both early stage rheumatoid arthritis (less than two years) and established rheumatoid arthritis (greater than two years), with a trend toward higher efficacy in early stage patients. Among early disease patients from one study, 41 percent achieved the American College of Rheumatology index response of 70.
