o Amgen Inc., of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, a division of Wyeth, of Madison, N.J., reported data from a new study during the European League Against Rheumatism meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, showing that combination therapy with Enbrel (etanercept) and methotrexate in rheumatoid arthritis patients was more effective than monotherapy with either treatment. One-year results of TEMPO (trial of etanercept and methotrexate with radiographic patient outcomes) showed that 80 percent of combination therapy patients experienced no radiographic progression through one year, compared to 68 percent of patients treated with Enbrel alone and 57 percent of ...
