Adherex Technologies Inc., of Ottawa, Ontario, was issued a new patent related to nonclassical cadherins that will provide Adherex protection for synthetic drugs designed to disrupt VE-cadherin. The cell adhesion protein is expressed by blood vessel cells but is different than the target of Exherin, the company's lead vascular targeting agent.
