AVI BioPharma Inc., of Portland, Ore., said it presented data at the 25th annual conference of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions in Seattle, showing the efficacy of its antisense drug, Resten-NG, in preventing coronary restenosis. Results of the study demonstrated that Resten-NG is effective at inhibiting coronary artery smooth muscle cell growth and preserving vascular endothelial cells. The company also discussed the application of its antisense technology to coated stents.
