AnorMED Inc., of Vancouver, British Columbia, said Fosrenol (lanthanum carbonate) did not cause adverse effects over 12 months of therapy in a Phase III multicenter study of 98 patients who were starting renal dialysis for the first time. In the lanthanum patients, there was no evolution toward low bone turnover states. The data were presented at the international symposium "Advances in Renal Osteodystrophy" in Oviedo, Spain.
