Advanced Viral Research Corp., of Yonkers, N.Y., received from Israeli regulatory officials approval for a Phase I study of Product R, its immunomodulatory-type drug for the treatment of body wasting (cachexia) in patients with solid tumors. It will be investigated for its ability to treat the body wasting that accompanies the growth of solid tumors such as colon, lung, breast, stomach and kidney cancers. Advanced Viral said it believes this trial may assist the investigational new drug process with the FDA.
