Article: Auto Inc posts big sales jump in October fest.

CAR and twowheeler manufacturers recorded a big jump in sales during October, over the same festive month of the previous year, reflecting a clear signal that the auto sector may well be cruising out of the woods.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki India Ltd ( MSIL) sold a total of 85,415 vehicles in October, 2009, growing 32.4 per cent in the month. This includes 13,864 units of exports. Domestic sales surged by a healthy 22 per cent.

The company had sold a total of 64,490 vehicles in October 2008, including 5,363 units for the export market.

The sales in A2 segment comprising Alto, Wagon R, Estilo, Swift, A- Star and Ritz grew by 18.4 per cent. In ...
