Article: Chile : Barrick started Pascua Lama in October, says company.

After years of waiting, Barrick Gold (NYSE: ABX) started construction on infrastructure at its Pascua Lama project on the border of Chile and Argentina earlier this month, the company said in its third quarter results report.

Previously the company said it was waiting for bad weather to clear before starting construction.

However Barrick is still not able to build some parts of the operation, such as a power transmission line into Argentina, since they are pending permits, CEO Aaron Regent said in a conference call to discuss Q3 results Thursday.
