Aviation officials from the two sides of the Taiwan Strait will meet later this year to discuss a wide range of issues, including Taiwan's hope that regular cross-strait flights will be allowed to carry transit cargo, an official said Sunday.

Lee Lung-wen, director-general of the Civil Aeronautics Administration, said in an interview with the Central News Agency that although aviation issues are not on the agenda for the upcoming fourth round of high-level cross-strait talks, the two sides are planning a new round of consultations on aviation issues before the end of this year.
