The Export-Import Bank of Korea said yesterday that it will provide 20 trillion won ($16.9 billion) in loans and other forms of financial support to 300 small companies by 2019.

The state-run export credit provider announced 12 beneficiaries as the first group of "Korean hidden champions" that will be provided with a prime rate on loans, discounts on banking transaction fees, increased credit lines and other financial support.

A total of 300 companies will be selected by 2019. The bank hopes to nurture them to achieve net exports of $48 billion and a GDP contribution of $25.6 billion.
