At the start of the 20th Century, Tata group founder Jamsetji Tata pioneered the generation of hydro electricity in India. Legend has it that it was on a boat ride with his friend, Nusserwanji Guzder, during the monsoon, Tata said, "All this water from the Western Ghats is wasted. We should harness it to produce hydroelectric power,'' pointing to the rainwater gushing from the river Roha.
