Maryland regulators approved a bid by Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) to buy nearly half of the nuclear power business of Constellation Energy Group Inc. (CEG), clearing the final regulatory hurdle for the $4.5 billion deal.
The ruling Friday by the Maryland Public Service Commission came with conditions, including ring-fencing measures to protect Constellation's Baltimore Gas & Electric Co., a limit on filings for rate increases, and a $250 million capital infusion to Baltimore Gas & Electric from Constellation.
