Carbondale Senior Housing and the town's new Third Street Center for nonprofit organizations will be the latest facilities to benefit from a Garfield New Energy Communities Initiative state grant obtained earlier this year.
Carbondale trustees this week OK'd a plan to use the town's $87,500 share of the larger grant to install a solar hot water system and an 18-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system at the senior housing complex, plus a 1.6-kilowatt bi-facial solar electric canopy over the entrance to the Third Street Center.
