TELSTRA has declared its $3.9 billion technology transformation a success despite scope creep pushing the budget up by $1.5bn and missing the original target of shutting down 80 per cent of the company's legacy systems by a long way.
Telstra chief executive David Thodey and chief financial officer John Stanhope devoted an entire session at last week's investor update to putting to bed the IT transformation project originally ordered by controversial former chief Sol Trujillo and executed by Mr Trujillo's US compatriot and former chief operating officer, Greg Winn.
