Alstom has signed two contracts, worth a total value of approximately 450 million euros, known as the Mannheim 9 project, to supply Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG with new boiler and turbine units at the company s Mannheim power plant in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany.
The new unit* will have an electrical output of over 900 MW and will supply 25% of the Rhein-Neckar region s electricity, the equivalent of approximately 600,000 households. It will replace the existing units 3 and 4 (with an output of only 220 MW each), which will be taken out of service after the commissioning of the new unit in 2013.
