AROUND 700 jobs have been brought a step closer to safety, after the Government decided to allow planning permission for a Cheshire factory to stand.
The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, John Denham, decided against calling in the decision of Cheshire West and Chester Council to award planning permission to Quinn Glass Ltd to develop its factory at Elton.
Council leader Mike Jones sai it was a "a victory for sound commonsense." He said: "It is welcome vindication of this authority's belief that it wS as entitled to the jurisdiction to determine this application."
