TRANSFORMED farming methods will increasingly be used to grow most of the fresh produce Woolworths sells.
By 2012, all locally-grown fresh produce the store sells will be either organic or grown through methods that improve soil and plant health, preserve water and protect biodiversity, says Woolworths chief executive Simon Susman.
Announcing the store's holistic "farming for the future" approach this week, Susman said more than half of Woolworths's fresh produce was already farmed with methods that used the best elements of organic and conventional farming.
