MILWAUKEE, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Brady Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCOA) today reported the results for its fiscal 1998 fourth quarter and year ending July 31, 1998.

Sales for fiscal 1998 were $455.2 million, up 6.8 percent from fiscal 1997's sales of $426.1 million. The 1998 sales included a reduction of $14.7 million or 3.4 percentage points due to the effect of foreign currency translation.

Brady took one-time charges totaling $7.9 million ($4.8 million after tax) in the fourth quarter in order to realign its cost structure. These charges related primarily to a 7.5-percent workforce reduction and writedowns of certain inventories and other assets. ...
