The Alexandria City Council could move one step closer today to allowing the city's administration to begin its signature SPARC project.

The City Council will consider final adoption of an ordinance that would add $275,000 to the city's budget for the demolition of the former Dominique-Miller Stockyard on Lower Third Street.

Kay Michiels, the city's chief operating officer and director of planning, said the project would go out for bid at the beginning of next month, and demolition should begin by the end of December.
