Soil and Water Conservation districts across the state -- including those in Onondaga, Oswego, Madison and Cayuga counties -- were honored recently for getting their news out to the public in area media.
The 2009 Districts in the News Awards were presented by state Agriculture Commissioner Patrick Hooker Oct. 19 at the New York Association of Conservation Districts annual meeting in Lake George.
More than 235 print articles and 15 TV news and radio broadcasts were submitted by 22 Soil and Water Conservation districts for this year's awards, which are in their fourth year.
