PERTH, Nov 5 Asia Pulse - The Thai-based company which operates the oil field which leaked oil into the Timor Sea before its platform caught on fire has welcomed the Australian government's announcement of an inquiry.
Resources Minister Martin Ferguson announced an inquiry into the oil spill at PTTEP Australasia's Montara oil field on Thursday.
It will investigate the spill which leaked from a well bore for more than ten weeks before it was finally plugged with heavy mud on Tuesday.
The oil began leaking on August 21, forcing the evacuation of PTTEP's Montara well head platform and the nearby West Atlas oil rig.
