ANC and Tshwane Metro Council chief whip Terence Mashego has hit the ground running.

The man who serves on the ANC's regional executive committee (Tshwane region) really took control of proceedings at his first meeting as a member of the metro council last Thursday.

Unlike some councillors from 2006 who are still to make their maiden speeches, a confident Mshego took charge barely 48 hours after the ANC had confirmed him as its candidate for the position.

He replaced Vusi Skosana as chief whip, forcing the ANC to sacrifice long-standing councillor Pat Blaauw who had to step down as a proportional representative.
