HIS exploits during the Battle of Arnhem made him a hero in the eyes of his comrades.
Now the legend of Major John Pott is being revived by his grandson as a pop song to raise money for war veterans.
Black Swan Song, performed by the band Athlete, is set to top the charts 65 years after one of the bloodiest episodes in the Second World War.
The major's valiant but ultimately fruitless attempts to help capture Arnhem's notorious 'Bridge Too Far' in 1944 have been commemorated in a track written by Athlete singer Joel Pott.
