A Boston University researcher is warning that city kids who ride the MBTA are getting an unhealthy eyeful of booze ads on the way to and from school that could encourage underage drinking.
The BU study's author, Dr. Michael Siegel, a professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the School of Public Health, recommends the MBTA stop advertising liquor. Siegel said the MBTA has a policy that forbids using ad space for tobacco products. He argues drinking is just as much of a health risk.
