We call ourselves the Grandma's Club. Most of us have been mistaken as the grandparents of our adopted children, and five out of eight of us on the board of Adoption Connections of Oregon are old enough to be our kids' grandparents. We received that wild call to have a child long after careers and hormones had settled comfortably into midlife, and we pursued parenthood in a variety of ways through adoption.
