M86 Security, a global provider of Web and messaging security products, announced that it has been granted a patent from the US Patent and Trademark Office for the use of behavior-based malware detection technology (see also M86 Security).
The patent, Virus Detection by Executing Email Code in a Virtual Machine, covers the use of malware detection techniques by emulating environments to examine potentially malicious code using virtualization. The patent was issued as number 7,607,171 by the Patent and Trademark Office.
